What is a Dental Emergency?

A “dental emergency” covers the following serious conditions:

  • Heavy bleeding that does not stop
  • Swelling or an infection that makes it hard to breath
  • A tooth that has been knocked out
  • Severe tooth pain

If you are suffering from any of these symptoms, please check the emergency contacts below.

Self-Isolated Patients

If you or a family member present any continuous cough or a temperature of at least 37.8 degrees you should self-isolate yourself for 7 days if living alone, or 14 days if sharing the household with other people. We will not be able to see you in general practice. If you are on self-isolation and have a dental emergency, please call the NHS 111 service and they will advise you on the dedicated dental emergencies centres.

Out-of-Hours Emergencies

For out-of-hours emergencies, please call the NHS 111 service and they will advise you of the services available.

Further Emergency Cover
